Three shanties were gutted in a fire Saturday at a slum in Nashik in Maharashtra, but no loss to life was reported, police said.
The fire erupted in the locked shanty of one Mushtaq Shaikh, a street vendor, located in Wadala Gaon locality of the city at around 12:30 PM.
After spotting the blaze, locals called up Fire Brigade, a Fire department official said, adding that residents of neighbouring huts were evacuated immediately.
By the time the flames were put out, three shanties were gutted, he said, adding that the exact cause behind the mishap is not known.
A Indira Nagar police station official said articles of domestic use were destroyed in the blaze.
Further investigation is underway.
