After tasting first win of the Indian Super League, Delhi Dynamos head coach Harm Van Veldhoven today said the first goal of the 4-1 thrashing of Chennaiyin FC made all the difference.
Wim Raymaekers struck in the second minute of the match and Dynamos maintained their attacking game to outclass their opponents.
"We had a perfect start with Raymaekers getting the early goal. It's always good to score early. Had we scored early against Pune City FC (in the opening match), we would have won that match like today's," he said at the post-match press conference.
"I have midfielders of the calibre of Hans Mulder, Bruno Herrero and the Steven Dias and we did not give any chance to Chennai. The second, third and fourth goals came. I am proud of my players," said the Dutch with his trademark smiling face.
Even after taking a 2-0 lead at the half time, he said he told his players to go for more goals.
"Goals are important, we could not score in our first match at home and we scored four today and our fans must be happy," he added.
Veldhoven had a word of praise for former India winger Steven Dias who played his first ISL match today for his supplies from the right flank including the assist that led to the second goal.
