Food law doesn't ensure security to farmers: BKS

Farmers' body Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) today opposed food security as well as the land acquisition laws stating that they neglect the interest of farmers.
"The food law does not ensure any security to farmers. There is no provision in the law which can guarantee that foodgrain will be purchased from farmers at profitable price," BKS General Secretary Prabhakar Kelkar told reporters here.
The BKS also opposed the land acquisition law, saying it does not guarantee the ownership rights to farmers.
"The land acquisition law does not provide the ownership right to farmers over their land, and at the same time there is no provision in law to give royalty to farmers if the minerals are explored from their land," Kelkar added.

The BKS today announced it will organise a mega rally on September 13 at the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital to protest against both these laws, and will demand from the government to guarantee profitable price to farmers on their produce.
