For 'creating panic in minds of public', man held under PD Act

Cyberabad Police have arrested a man here for his alleged involvement in a slew of illegal activities like extortion, cheating, harassing women, etc. under the stringent Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Goondas Act.
The Andhra Pradesh PD Act, 1986, was today invoked against one Mohd Sadath Ahmad alias Sadath, who is into the real estate business and also claims to be the chairman of one International Human Rights Organisation, an official release here said.
Sadath had also opened an office at his residence and published a magazine called 'Human Rights Voice', it said.
It is alleged that, under the cover of the organisation, he carried out illegal activities like extortion, forgery, cheating, outraging the modesty of women, criminal conspiracy, etc. Thereby causing panic among residents of localities like Dundigal, Quthubullapur, Jeedimetla and Shapoornagar.
"Sadath had... Committed gruesome offences by his violent activities, breaking peace and public tranquillity and creating panic in the minds of public by travelling in convoys of vehicles with his henchmen to create an aura," the release added.
He has nine criminal cases lodged against him. As Sadath was found to be habitually committing these offences, preventive detention orders were invoked against him by Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand.
Sadath is currently lodged at Cherlapally Central Prison here, the release said.
