Coming into the race, Force India had a four-point lead over Lotus but a no-points show meant that the Indian Formula One team could not add to 39 points in its kitty.
Romain Grosjean finished seventh in his Lotus to earn six points from the race and that pushed his team to fifth with 41 points now.
Hulkenberg crahed in lap 42 after a front wing failure while Perez retired in lap 54 after coming to pits.
The Hungarain GP proved to be a tough one for Force India as Perez had suffered a crash during the opening Free Practice session due to a suspension problem and forced the team to withdraw both the drivers from FP2.
