The guards so far had to walk around the area to keep watch but now they will be provided cycles to move in the area, deputy director of the park Anup K R said.
He informed that 30 guards in Sudasari, Chauhani, Sam, Barma, Ramdevra posts will be given cycles.
"They have also been given training to use GPS system and they will be also carrying GPS devices," he said.
The Desert National Park covers an area of 3162 square km of which 1900 square km is in Jaisalmer district and remaining is in Barmer district.
The area of the park falls in the extreme hot and arid region of very low rainfall zone of the country.
Sandy areas dominate the western parts of Jaisalmer district, while gravelly and rocky areas are scattered throughout central, southern and eastern areas.
The DNP isbarren with several sand dunes and a few hills in the north-western region.
