There were speculations in Pakistan regarding Salahuddin's health but the former cricketer, who represented Pakistan in five Tests during the later half of the 1960's, said he was fit and on his way to recovery.
Salahuddin was on a personal visit to India when his health deteriorated and had to be taken to one of the city hospitals for the treatment.
On advise of doctors at Apollo Hospitals, Salahuddin was operated for removal of two clots -- one in the lower back region and the other one in the abdominal region.
Surgery was performed by doctor A K Kriplani.
"Congress MP Mohsina Kidwai is my sister and party's national minority cell chief Imran Kidwai is my first cousin. I had come here to attend a marriage ceremony and when my sister saw my condition she didn't let me delay the surgery. It was a four hour-long surgery and I had 120 stitches," Salahuddin told PTI.
The former chief selector, due to health reasons, has extended his stay in the country till third week of December.
"There were lot of rumours floating in Pakistan regarding my ill health. Since I am not able to personally contact my well wishers, I want to assure them that I am fit and on my way to recovery," he said.
