Additional Sessions Judge R P Goel held Harpal Singh, Navjeet and Karamjeet guilty of trying to murder Jagga Singh, a witness in the murder case of local Congress leader Chand Singh Brar in 2001 and pronounced the verdict on them, prosecution sources said here.
A fine of Rs 5,000 was also imposed on each of them.
Jagga Singh was on his way to depose before a court in the said case on March 17, 2011 when a group of armed youths, who were following his SUV in another vehicle started firing at Singh and his driver, the sources said.
Both of them were seriously injured in the incident.
A case was registered against Chhotu Bhat, a resident of Chautala village and others in this connection. After investigation, the police had arrested Chhotu and three others and they were tried in the district court here, they added.
