Four-year-old leopard trapped

A four-year-old leopard that gave sleepless nights to residents of Mullyakursi and nearby villages in Perinthalamanna forest area of Malappuram district for the last few days was trapped today.
Following frequent complaints from locals, a cage was set up at spot where a buffalo and an ox were mauled to death by the canine some days ago, Sajeeve, DFO, Malappuram said.
The locals found the leopard trapped inside the cage this morning and informed the forest officials who brought it to Mullyakurshi.
The animal will be released in Parambikulam forest areas, he said.
The leopard is believed to have been strayed into human habitats along the forest region adjacent to Kumaragiri estate.
