Patients at these 10 hospitals, with an annual family income of up to Rs 3 lakh and living in the city for three years, can avail the facility. They have to show income certificate and residential proofs, like aadhaar card, ration card or driving licence for this.
In February this year, the AAP government had announced free MRI and CT Scan facility at its all hospitals.
"Patients, who are referred by identified hospital authorities, can undergo MRI and CT scan at free of charge at seven NABH accredited centres. However, they have to seek prior appointment with these labs before availing such facility," Health Minister Satyendar Jain said today.
The decision was taken by Delhi Arogya Kosh in view of long ques for MRI and CT scan in government hospitals, where patients wait for up to three years in some cases.
The 10 hospitals from where eligible patients will be referred to the laboratories are GB Pant Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, GTB Hospital, DDU Hospital, Dr. BSA Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, Delhi State Cancer Institute and Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya.
Jain said this will decrease the load on MRI and CT scan facility in Delhi government hospitals substantially and help in providing timely and prompt treatment to all patients in general and those belonging to EWS category in particular.
Asked about availability of funds for reimbursing these laboratories, the health minister said Delhi government has "saved money" in its several PWD projects which will be used to provide this facility to the people.
