A fresh case was registered against former Odisha MLA Ramesh Jena and his associates for allegedly grabbing about four acre of land at Nimakhandi which belongs to Jagannath temple in the village in Ganjam district.
Others involved are Jena's father Arakhita Jena, corporator R Murali Mohan and builders Kiran Panda and Bighnesh Sahu, police said.
Managing trustee of the temple Kishore Chandra Patnaik had lodged an FIR with police after the endowment department asked the trustee to file the complaint, in-charge SP (Berhampur) Asish Singh said.
Another case was registered against Jena, ex-MLA from Sanakhemundi in Ganjam district, and his associates at Berhampur Sadar police station under various sections of IPC and under section 7 of Religious Institute Prevention of Misuse Act-1988, he said.
"We will pray to the court for getting Jena's remand once again as he is involved in several land-grabbing cases, including private as well as government land", the SP added.
