An IOC official said that aviation turbine fuel was being sent through the pipeline at present.
"FIR has been registered against unknown persons," Telecom and Instrumental Manager, IOC Mathura Refinery Suman Tutoo said, adding that a probe has been ordered.
"Though the pipeline is meant for movement of all petroleum products, at present aviation turbine fuel was passing through the pipeline," Tutoo said.
"The case has been registered u/s 15/16 Petroleum and Mineral Pipeline act," DySP Ajai Pal Singh said.
In a planned way, not only was a hole made in the pipeline but a system was also developed to control the movement of the fuel.
The spot where the hole was made in the pipeline was hidden with the earth-filled bags and was detected on Monday night when, during road laying in the area, the road-roller dug deep into the ground.
