Aviation regulator DGCA is likely to seek the help of independent experts in carrying out its probe into the recent incident of a Samsung high end smartphone catching fire inside an IndiGo aircraft.
As part of its ongoing probe into the incident, which happened during landing of a Chennai-bound aircraft from Singapore on September 23, officials of DGCA has already met a five-member team from Samsung.
Sources today said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is mulling roping in technical experts from outside to help it in conducting probe into the fire incident involving Galaxy Note 2.
This is the first of its kind incident when Galaxy Note 2 caught fire while there is already an advisory in place for Galaxy Note 7 -- which is yet to be launched in India -- amid concerns over batteries of some of the devices getting overheated and exploding.
The South Korean major has already recalled Galaxy Note 7 in various countries.
During the meeting yesterday, Samsung informed DGCA that Galaxy Note 7 manufactured till September 15 would not be sold in India in order to address battery issues.
Earlier this month, DGCA banned use of Galaxy Note 7 on board an aircraft.
Soon after the incident of Galaxy Note 2 catching fire was reported on September 23, Samsung had said it was looking into the matter.
