Calling the Gandhis "magicians", Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Amethi Lok Sabha seat Kumar Vishwas today said the family had always "emotionally blackmailed" the people of the constituency.
Addressing meetings at several villages in the Amethi assembly segment, including Ghatampur and Tikari, Vishwas said, "Gandhis have always emotionally blackmailed the innocent people of Amethi and now it is proper time to get rid of the clutches of these magicians in the interest of Amethi, which still needs more and more development in all respects."
"If AAP wins here, the real leader will be public and all the plans will be made and executed in public interest," he added.
Later, AAP's media manager Pankaj Shukla said party chief Arvind Kejriwal would campaign in Amethi on April 20, 21, 22 and May 1 and 2.
Kejriwal would hold rallies and roadshows in support of Kumar Vishwas in all five assembly segments (Amethi, Gauriganj, Tiloi and Jagdishpur (reserved) in Amethi district and Salon (reserved) in Rae Bareli district), he said.
Also, Manish Sisodia will hold public meetings from April 27 to 29, while Rakhi Birla will campaign from April 27 onwards.
Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Raj Mohan Gandhi is also scheduled to campaign in Amethi, but the date for his visit is still not clear, Pankaj said.
Vishwas is pitted against Rahul Gandhi from Congress and Smriti Irani from BJP.
