The Maharashtra government has decided to give a toll waiver during Ganesh festival to vehicles going to the Konkan on the Mumbai-Goa and Mumbai-Pune Express highways via Kolhapur.
The exemption will be for four days from September 10-13 as well as for the return journey.
State PWD (Public Undertakings) minister Eknath Shinde said that passes for vehicles will be available at police stations, traffic police chowkies and Regional Transport Offices.
Shinde said instructions have been issued to repair potholes on Mumbai-Goa Highway immediately.
"Orders have been given to keep necessary alternative arrangements, including ambulances and cranes, as standby in case of vehicle breakdowns," he said.
