Ganpati takes over as new DGP of Uttarakhand
Press Trust of India Dehradun M A Ganpati today took charge as the new DGP of Uttarakhand after the retirement of B S Sidhu.
A 1986 batch IPS officer, Ganpati assumed charge as the new state police chief at a simple ceremony at the police headquarters here this evening.
Soon after assuming office, Ganpati said strengthening the law and order scene across the state will be his top priority.
The Centre had given its nod to the appointment of Ganpati as DGP late on Thursday night.
Ganpati had recently returned from deputation in the Home Ministry.
