"The Last House on the Left" was earlier in contention for the role of Negan on "The Walking Dead", which went to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The details of Dillahunt's role has not been revealed but he joins the show as a series regular.
"Fear the Walking Dead" also features Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Mercedes Mason, Colman Domingo and Daniel Sharman.
Dillahunt has shows like "The Mindy Project", "The Gifted", "The Guest Book", "Hand of God" and "Raising Hope" to his credits.
