Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat is likely to visit the strategically important Eastern Command tomorrow during which he will review the security situation in the region and preparedness along the border with China.
He is expected to interact with the top officers including Eastern Command Chief Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi who got superseded.
The Eastern Command has become a key operational sector over the last few years as India focuses more on China.
Earlier, the primary focus was Pakistan and the Northern, Western and South Western commands.
Over the last few years, a lot of military build-up has started in the eastern and northeastern parts of the country, which is under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Command.
