A former BSP legislator was among 335 people booked today in connection with the arson and attack at a police station following the death of a youth in Jangipur area of the district.
35 people, including former BSP MLA Vijay Kumar, were named in the FIR, while 300 unidentified people were booked at Jangipur police station in connection with the attack and arson at Hansrajpur police outpost yesterday.
However, no arrest has been made so far, police said.
A local youth Ghanshyam was allegedly picked up by police for questioning on April 26 and was set free later in the night in "serious condition".
He died during treatment at a hospital yesterday.
Later, locals gathered at the police station with the body of youth. Demanding action against those responsible for Ghanshyam's death, locals started pelting stones at the outpost, set afire a hut and jeep of Dullapur SHO inside its premises.
Meanwhile, today, four policemen were suspended and booked in connection with the death of Ghanshyam. A departmental inquiry was also ordered against them.
"On the complaint of Ghanshyam's father, an FIR has been lodged against four policemen, including former inspector of Jangipur Ashish Mishra," Superintendent of Police Umesh Chandra Srivastava said.
The officer said that all the four policemen have been suspended and departmental inquiry was also being conducted against them.
The SP also said that no injury marks were found on the body of youth in post mortem.
