The wild animal ventured into Bangdaji village in Sheeri, 60 km from here, and attacked 19-year-old Shaheena Bano outside her house yesterday, a police spokesman said.
He said the badly mutilated body of the girl was later recovered from the periphery of the village.
The death of the girl sparked off protests as local residents accused the wild life department of inaction despite prior information about the frequent movement of a pair of leopards in the village.
However, senior police and wild life officials pacified the protesters and assured them that a special squad has been formed to track down the leopards and if need arises to kill the man-eater, police sources said.
