Honouring the efforts of a girl student who topped this year's class X exams, Jammu and Kashmir government today presented her with a laptop and also regularised the services of his father, who worked as a daily rated worker.
Recognising the performance of Anika Shabir, who secured first position in the Class X exam, the government today regularised the services of her father, Shabir Ahmad - a daily rated worker of Jammu Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC), an official spokesperson said here.
Also a laptop was presented to her by Minister for Roads and Buildings Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari in presence of Minister for Education Syed Naeem Akhtar and Minister of State for R&B and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma at the Civil Secretariat, he said.
The Ministers commended the girl for her hard work, who despite living in a far flung area of Tral, in south Kashmir, and belonging to a family with meagre resources, secured top position in the examination, the spokesperson said.
They also appreciated the spirit of her father Ahmad for extending moral and financial support to his daughter for achieving this position despite financial constraints.
"I will do my best to perform with excellence in future examinations also. This encouragement will inspire other students also to work hard and achieve best results irrespective of their economic background," Anika said.
