Digital product engineering services company GlobalLogic today said it has appointed former Infosys executive Nitesh Banga as its chief operating officer.

Effective immediately, Banga will assume responsibility for all delivery, operations, talent recruitment and management, and information technology, GlobalLogic said in a statement.

He will be responsible for the alignment and prioritisation of GlobalLogic's investments - enabling growth, consistency, efficiency and ensuring worldwide operational excellence across the company, it added.

This newly-created position is intended to provide greater depth and breadth within the leadership management to support the company's long-term growth and operational excellence objectives, GlobalLogic said.

Banga joins GlobalLogic from Infosys, where he held various positions around the globe. Most recently, he served as the Senior Vice President and Global Head of the manufacturing business at Infosys, as well as member of the board of their EdgeVerve software subsidiary.

He will report directly to CEO Shashank Samant, while working closely with the company's other senior leaders, it added.

"I have tremendous confidence in his ability to align our world-class engineering delivery capabilities with best-in-class operational practices, in order to better serve our customers and drive and extend the next phase of GlobalLogic's market growth," Samant said.

The company had recently announced that Partners Group (acting on behalf of its clients) bought a stake in GlobalLogic from funds advised by private equity firm Apax Partners LLP, in a deal that values the software development company at more than USD 2 billion.
