Goa State Pollution Control Board has asked all the factories, eateries and liquor outlets in the state to seek its consent to operate under the Air/Water Pollution Control Acts following an order of the National Green Tribunal.
The board, at its meeting held here today, decided that all these establishment must apply for "consent" within three weeks, otherwise they would be shut down, board chairman Jose Manuel Noronha told reporters.
A four-member committee headed by Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce has been formed to monitor implementation of the order.
Government estimates that about 2,000 eateries and 500 industrial units will have to apply for the consent.
