Goa lagging behind in IT sector, admits CM

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today admitted that the coastal state has been lagging behind in developing Information Technology (IT) as compared to a state like Telangana.
"If we compare our state to Telangana, we are junior in the field of IT. If Telangana has done graduation, we are only in matriculation as far as IT is concerned," Parsekar said after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telangana to knowledge sharing in IT field.
Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao was present for the event to sign MoU with Goa, which was held today in South Goa.
Stating that Goa will speed up IT development, Parsekar added that the state would complete its "graduation" by the time Telangana does its post-graduation.

Goa chief minister alleged that there were some "sensitive" people in the state, who were creating hindrance in the industrial development of the state.
"In Goa, some of the people are sensitive. They are more worried about environment. I can understand their worry, but exaggeration of certain things block the development of the state," Parsekar said.
"Being a small state, we need to be careful but excess in certain things creates problems," he said.
Parsekar said Goa has already identified two places, where land cane be acquired for setting up IT Park and Electronic City.
