Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government plans to give legal relief to almost 30,000 houses across the state, whose structures have been termed "illegal" due to non-fulfillment of certain formalities with state authorities.
Parrikar also said that houses constructed before February 28, 2014, could be covered under the scheme.
The Goa state budget which was presented today on the floor of the House proposed registration of unauthorised houses by enacting a proper regulation.
Parrikar said that the state expects to earn Rs 100 crore, which is additional resource mobilisation, through various licence fees to regularise these houses.
"As a one-time relief measure to settle the issue of unauthorised construction of houses, my government proposes to bring about regulations to regularise houses constructed without due authority," he said in his budget speech today.
Parrikar said that these houses would be regularised once owners pay fees, taxes, penalties and other charges which will be determined as a part of the regulation.
This scheme would cover occupants of houses who are either owners, co-owners or those holding occupancy rights over the house or having irrevocable no objection certificate from owners.
