Assistant police inspector Pramod D Patil of the Kasarwadavali police station told PTI that the housewife (35), who is a resident of Ovla, used to be sick and complained of epilepsy as well as mental stress.
She approached one of her relatives in Mumbai who referred her to another lady who was supposedly healed by a godman who got rid of "evil spirits", the police official said.
Later, he also took her mother to the kitchen and molested her, as per the police complaint.
The accused was produced before a local magistrate who remanded him to police custody upto October 1, 2015, the police official said.
The police has booked godman Mistry Baba alias Ramlal Sukhdev Sharma (40) under Section 376 and Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, besides Section 3 (2) of the Maharashtra Prevention of Black Magic Act of 2013 as well as Section 3 and Section 4 of the POCSO Act, the police official said.
