Goel warns officers of action if delay in providing answers

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel today warned officers of strict action if they fail to provide written answers on time, sought by the legislators during the Question Hour.
As the House met, the speaker observed that most of the answers were not provided by the departments concerned.
Goel said that there was often delay in providing answers by officers. The chief secretary was also issued directions earlier in this matter.
"Henceforth, if there is delay in this regard, strict action will be taken against officers concerned as per rules," Goel said.
In January, the speaker had directed Chief Secretary M M Kutty to ensure that written answers sought by the members during Question Hour are "correct" and provided to them on time after some of the MLAs raised the issue of "wrong" reply given by officers concerned.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had also ordered action against the officers who had not given answers to the questions asked by legislators.
