Gold futures up by Rs 87 on firm global cues

Gold prices rose by Rs 87 to Rs 29,280 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators raised their bets amid a firming trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in April rose by Rs 87 or 0.30 per cent to Rs 29,280 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 306 lots.
Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month June was trading higher by Rs 75 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 29,305 per 10 grams in four lots.
Analysts said a firming trend in the global markets, mainly influenced gold prices at futures trade here.
Globally, gold surged 1.29 per cent to USD 1,235.20 an ounce in New York yesterday.
