Gold edged lower in listless trade at the bullion market here today due to lack of buying interest from stockists and retailers.
On the other hand, silver staged a smart rebound after a two-session downslide on the back of renewed demand from consuming industries and jewellery makers.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) eased by Rs 15 to settle at Rs 29,900 per 10 grams compared to Wednesday's finish of Rs 29,915.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) also moved down by a similar margin to end at Rs 30,050 per 10 grams from Rs 30,065.
However, silver (.999 fineness) jumped by Rs 275 per kg to close at Rs 41,485 as against Rs 41,210 earlier.
On the global front, the yellow metal snapped its three-straight losses and regained some lost ground on bargain hunting and also ahead of important speeches from Federal Reserve officials to judge the balance of opinion among policymakers on the prospect of further rate hikes.
Spot was trading firmly higher at USD 1,283.90 an ounce in early European trade and silver was quoted higher at USD 17.495 an ounce.
