The Jammu and Kashmir government today said that it was committed to provide relief and other basic facilities to the Kashmiri migrants and address their grievances.
While chairing a meeting of his department to discuss the issues of Kashmiri migrants, Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation, Basharat Bukhari said, "The Government is committed to address the grievances of Kashmiri migrants related to relief and other basic facilities".
The Minister held discussions regarding relief, healthcare, water supply, electricity, ration, education and other basic amenities for the Kashmiri Migrants.
Bukhari asked the concerned officers to ensure that the ration is made available at sale outlets in the migrants' camps by 15th of each month.
He asked the Relief Commissioner to identify spots for opening of additional sale outlets to facilitate smooth and hassle-free ration distribution.
The government also decided that the procedure for bifurcation of ration cards will be simplified and the relief organisation will devise a simple format which will be provided to the applicants.
The minister said that the distribution of ration for the month of April would be done at various depots for the registered migrants under relief category on production of their old ration tickets.
Regarding issuance of fresh and revival of old registration cards, it was decided that the cases will be put up to the screening committee headed by the Jammu Divisional Commissioner with IG, CID and Relief Commissioner as its members.
With regard to grant of Resident of Backward Area certificates to the migrants it was decided that Secretary Revenue, Secretary Social Welfare and Secretary Law along with Relief Commissioner will examine and assess the matter.
The Minister also asked the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education to ensure adequate supply of medicines at the medical centers in the camps.
