Speaking to reporters here, he said Puducherry is a tourist hub and flow of vacationers has been on the rise.Hence it was the government's duty to ensure protection for them and also local people without leaving anything to chance.
The government had already suspended two police officers for their alleged nexus with history sheeters and also those indulging in gambling, he said.
"We will never brook this trend and hence to ensure peace and law and order we will remove the black sheep in the police department without fear or favour', he said.
Narayanaswamy said that in wake of occurrence of serious crimes in recent days, stern action was taken to nab the accused and they were also jailed in the larger interest of protection of law and order.
The process of intelligence gathering has also been intensified, he said, adding it has become all the more important in view of the increase in flow of tourists.
On implementation of Goods and Services Tax, the Chief Minister,who returned here after attending the two day meet of the GST council in Kashmir recently, said Puducherry was in seventh rank in implementation of the new tax regime.
He also said Puducherry was ready to shift to the new tax system and already officers had been trained in the new tax pattern.
Around 80 per cent of traders and businessmen had volunteered to shift to the new tax regime here.
