Minister of state for Revenue Sanjay Rathod has expressed displeasure over laxity on the part of the Dean of Sri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College here regarding important matters like admission and other facilities.
In a meeting with state education minister Vinod Tawde held on Wednesday in Mumbai, Rathore, who is district guardian minister, said that despite Medical Council of India's (MCI) inspection to the college in February this year, the college administration has not worked on strengthening its infrastructure.
Rathore said the MCI had assurance before Nagpur Bench of Bombay high court that it will sanction the increase in number of students upto 150 in the first on MBBS course at the college but despite it, college administration did not take any concrete initiatives.
The minister alleged that the newly-appointed dean Dr Ashok Rathod is taking issues pertaining to the college in a casual manner which has marred the very objective of setting up of a medical college in the tribal-dominated district.
Tawde on the occasion pulled up Dr Rathod and said he has failed to meet the expectations. The minister asked him to expedite various developmental works.
Rathod also raised the concern of security at the college, to which Tawde instructed director of medical education to submit a proposal for recruiting 20 security personnel at the college.
