"Government has decided to lay foundation stone for 500 bedded super-speciality hospital at the hands of the Prime Minister and we will send an invitation to him. The programme is likely to take place within next two months," D'Souza, who also holds Health portfolio, said yesterday.
He was addressing a gathering to observe International Nursing Day.
"As many as 11 super-speciality facilities including endocrinology, oncology and liver transplant would be under one roof," he said, adding that the entire project would cost Rs 386 crore.
"The facility will be built under Pradhan Mantri Sawastha Seva Yojana scheme," he said.
"Goa holds the distinction of being the number 1 state in health care sector in the country," he said.
He also announced that the government will soon launch Dayanand Universal Health Insurance Scheme to cater to the health care needs of people wherein health cards will be issued to those families living in Goa for more than five years.
