Govt working to create atmosphere of trust among communities:

Noting that the Sikh community played a vital role in the development and progress of the country, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said the government was working to address the problems being faced by the community members and create an atmosphere of trust among all communities.
"Sikhs have played a vital role in the development and progress of the country and their sacrifices in the freedom struggle were immense. Sikhs are true saviors of Indian heritage and civilisation," he said at a function here.
He said a strong atmosphere of trust among allcommunities was being created by the government.
He said the government was keen on ensuringan atmosphere in the state where equitable opportunities for growth and development are provided to all.
Singh said the issues of setting up of minority commission in the state, implementation of Anand Karaj Act and revival of Punjabi language in state will be taken up with the authorities concerned.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Rs 2,000 crore has been approved by the central government as relief for the refugees of the state and the process of its disbursement is underway.
He said the problems being faced by the transporters of minority community will also be taken up with the transport department so that these are addressed at the earliest.
He said the central government has decided to increase the compensation to Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the victims ofcross-border firing.
On the issue of installation of a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani, Singh said that due consideration would be given to the demand.
