Amidst ongoing debates on Rahul Gandhi's elevation as the Congress president, Rajasthan PCC chief Sachin Pilot today said the ground-level workers of the party still want Sonia Gandhi to lead the party.
"Ground-level workers of the party want Sonia Gandhi to continue as Congress president," Pilot told reporters after attending a divisional meeting of the PCC here.
After Indira Gandhi, it was Sonia Gandhi under whose leadership the Congress had government at the Centre twice in which Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister, Pilot said, adding that "Sonia Gandhi is undisputed leader of the party".
When reminded of former Union minister Kamalnath's statement related to Rahul Gandhi as party president, Pilot expressed that he was not concerned who had given what statement.
On possibility of Priyanka Gandhi's entry into politics, Pilot said that she used to attend certain events and activities of the party, but it is up to her to decide whether to take up any responsibility in Congress.
Congress now wanted to take impression and suggestion of workers at block level in Rajasthan to reorganise and strengthen the party base up to village level, he said.
A compiled report obtained from block levels in all divisions of the state would be submitted to the party high command soon, Pilot said.
On a question to Rajasthan government's power tariff hike and amendment in Land Acquisition Act, Pilot said the Congress would hold a state-level protest on March 4 and would demand the Raje government to withdraw hike in power tariff.
