Guar gum prices on Monday plunged Rs 249 to Rs 5,988 per five quintal in futures market as traders offloaded their holdings in line with weak trend in spot market.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar gum for March delivery fell by Rs 249, or 3.99 per cent, to Rs 5,988 per five quintal in 8,660 lots.

Guar gum for April delivery eased by Rs 252, or 4 per cent, to Rs 6,052 per five quintal in 48,680 lots.

Marketmen said trimming of positions by participants amid weak demand mainly dragged down guar gum prices here.
