Amid the raging debate on hate crimes, historian Ramachandra Guha Saturday stressed the need to end all forms of inequality and discrimination in the country.

Guha, who delivered the Convocation address at the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), University of Law here, expressed concern about the historically entrenched forms of "inequalities in our society," a university release said.

Recently, 49 eminent citizens, including Guha, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concern that 'Jai Shri Ram' had become a war cry with many lynchings taking place.

Following this, 61 high profile personalities from various fields, including actor Kangana Ranaut, Friday responded with a counter statement against "selective outrage and false narratives."
