Nita Gohil, died shortly after she was referred at a government hospital in Gadhada town this afternoon, said Gadhada police sub-inspector R B Karmatiya.
Gohil, a resident of Devdhari village, was part of the groom's procession which arrived at Rampara village, he said.
"As the groom's procession arrived, someone fired one round from his gun to celebrate the moment. Eye witnesses claimed that a person in the crowd first loaded his gun and tried to fire in the air. However, the gun went off much earlier. As a result, one bullet pierced into Gohil's back," the officer added.
"We have lodged an FIR under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC against the unidentified person for causing death of the woman through negligent act," added Karmatiya.
