Two Haryana Police cops were today placed under suspension for allegedly issuing "wrong ammunition" to the salute guards whose rifles failed to fire when they were giving a gun salute to Lance Naik Kuldeep, who was killed in a terror attack in Uri, during his funeral in Haryana's Jind district.
The Haryana Government placed under suspension Assistant Sub Inspector of Police Dharambir Singh and Head Constable Raj Kumar (in-charge guard) "responsible for issuing wrong ammunition to the 'Salami Guard' (guards who give gun salute) for the cremation ceremony of Kuldeep at Jind on December 7".
Also a departmental enquiry has been ordered against them, a Haryana government release issued here today, said.
The release said that an inquiry will be conducted by Narwana DSP Adarshdeep Singh.
Apart from this, Lines Officer, Police Lines Jind, ASI Raj Kumar and four constables who were members of the 'Salami Guard', have been deputed to Haryana Police Academy Madhuban for further training for a period of one year.
The mortal remains of the 27-year-old martyr, who was killed in a terror attack by militants who stormed an Army camp in Uri last week, had been consigned to flames on December 7 at his native place Kheri Bullah village in Haryana's Jind district.
The rifles of the police constables had failed to fire after which Jind's Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Balaji Joshi had ordered a probe into the incident.
