Congress President Rahul Gandhi today appointed Punjab legislator Gurkirat Singh Kotli as AICC Secretary for Himachal Pradesh.
Gurkirat is the grandson of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh and represents Khanna constituency in Punjab.
"Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Gurkirat Singh Kotli as AICC Secretary for Himachal Pradesh with immediate effect," a statement from AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot said.
Gandhi had appointed former Rajya Sabha member Rajni Patil as the AICC in-charge of party affairs in Himachal Pradesh in place of Sushil Kumar Shinde last month.
Gurkirat's name had cropped in a molestation case in 1994 when Beant Singh was the chief minister.
