"Hamid", a film about an eight-year-old Kashmiri boy's search for his missing father, is all set to release on March 1.
Produced by Yoodlee Films and directed by Aijaz Khan, the film premiered at the Jio MAMI 20th Mumbai Film Festival in 2018.
"It's a great feeling when you know that your labour of love will be finally be showcased to the entire nation. I'm excited and nervous in equal measures. This is an important story that needs to be told, and after travelling to different parts of the world, I hope this film continues to touch the hearts of the audiences all over, as it has been doing in its festival screenings," Khan said.
Siddharth Anand Kumar VP Films and TV Saregama India and Producer at Yoodlee Films said they were looking forward to the the reaction of the viewers after a positive showing at film festivals.
"The response we have got at various prestigious film festivals has been overwhelming and we are imbued with a new confidence to showcase the film to a wider audience. Engaging relevant content for a discerning audience is the cornerstone of Yoodlee Films, and Hamid is a true testimony to that," Kumar said in a statement.
The story of the film is told through Hamid, who is looking for his missing father after his mother tells him that he has gone to Allah.
The number 786, Hamid learns, is God's number and he decides to try and reach out to Him. Using his father's old mobile phone, after various combinations, he ?nally manages to connect to Abhay, a hard-knuckled CRPF Jawaan, who he believes, is the God he is looking for.
Hamid and Abhay torn apart by politics and bound by a sense of loss, unknowingly and unintentionally, find a way to complete each other's life, against the rampant violence in Kashmir.
The character of the child protagonist in the film has been played by a young kashmiri boy, Talha Arshad Reshi. The film also stars talented peformers like Rasika Duggal, Vikas Kumar and Sumit Kaul.
