The Haryana government has decided to constitute a Special Task Force which will identify and initiate action against peddlers of narcotic and psychotropic substances near schools and colleges.
Reiterating the state government's commitment towards ensuring safety of women, Haryana DGP B S Sandhu lauded all police personnel for the outstanding work being carried out under 'Operation Durga'.
"Awareness campaigns against drug abuse will also be organised. Besides, a drive will be launched against those indulging in trade of illegal weapons," he told reporters here today.
The DGP also lauded the Rohtak Police for its initiative of issuing challan to personnel of the force found violating traffic rules, and said this will soon be implemented in the rest of the state.
Sandhu said traffic rules will be implemented strictly, and a special drive will be launched against those driving above the speed limit or under influence.
"If minors are caught driving, their parents or guardians will be considered equally guilty and legal action will be initiated against them. Campaigns to raise awareness about traffic rules will be organised in schools and colleges," he said.
He said 15,000 vacant posts in the police department will be filled by April 30 next year.
'Mitra Centres' are being set up at every police station on the lines of Passport Seva Kendra. People will not have to visit the police station for minor complaints, character certificates or passport verification as these services will be provided in the 'Mitra Centres', Sandhu said.
Besides, new buildings will be constructed for 40 police stations across the state. Construction work has already started in some places.
As many as 3,000 residential quarters are being built for Police jawans. Soft skill training is being provided to the personnel. Apart from this, cyber police stations are also being set up, he said.
