Haryana govt to promote yoga: Minister

Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Yoga would be promoted in Haryana to give impetus to the ancient system of medicine in the state, state Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said here today.
Besides, 'Vyayam Shalas' would also be opened in about 6,500 villages of the state, he added.
Vij was speaking at a programme organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad in Ambala Cantonment.
He announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh from his discretionary fund for the promotion of activities of the Parishad in building human resource and social service.
"In order to draw children to Yoga right at the school level, efforts would be made to hold special classes during the morning prayer," he said.
Over the appointment of yoga guru Ramdev as Haryana's brand ambassador to promote yoga and ayurveda, he said "besides, utilising the services of yoga guru Ramdev as the brand ambassador of Haryana, a huge medicinal forest for growing natural herbs would also be developed in the state".
