"Lawyers should lead the change against criminality, poverty, domestic violence, caste discrimination and other forms of exploitation," the chief minister said during a function organised by Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana High Court here today.
Hooda said that his government has taken various steps for the welfare of the legal fraternity. "We have recently launched the Haryana Advocates Welfare Fund, a social security scheme, set up under central law, for the lawyers," he said.
Apart from this, special reservation was being given to the advocates in the allotments of plots by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
Citing examples of famous personalities, Hooda said this noble profession has produced many great administrators like Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Vallabh Bhai Patel who have channelled humanity towards brighter horizons.
On the occasion, Hooda distributed Enrolment Certificates to 488 advocates and administered oath to them.
Congratulating newly enrolled lawyers, Hooda said they play an important role in enabling the public access to justice and ensuring that our Constitution becomes a living reality, an official release said.
He said that India has the world's second largest legal professionals with more than 6,00,000 lawyers.
