Haryana to set up building construction academy

The Haryana government has decided to set up a 'State Building Construction Academy' to impart training to workers engaged in this field, an official spokesperson said.
A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today, he added.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Labour Department, Vijai Vardhan said that the proposed academy would be set up on the pattern on National Academy of Construction, Hyderabad, according to the official spokesperson.
Vardhan said that Haryana would be the second state to have such an academy.
The academy would offer certificate courses to registered workers in trades such as masonry, bar binding, plumber, sanitation, electric wiring, floor and tiles and painting and decoration, he added.
Khattar directed that the courses should be started at the earliest at any of the Industrial Training Institutes or any other government building, the spokesperson said.
It was also informed that out of total 7,03,158 registered workers under the Board, 3,77,547 were active till July 2017, he added.
