Shah underlined that the party would not be in government for long unless its reach expands and exhorted all the ministers to work for implementation of the party manifesto.
"The country is yet to be rid of Congress. The cadres should keep this in mind.... Assembly elections are coming in four states of Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Shah, whose appointment as party President was today ratified in the BJP National Council meeting, exhorted party cadres to work for expanding the party's reach with focus on states like UP, Bihar, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir where assembly polls are due later this year.
He asked the party cadres not to take as a "routine" affair the proposed membership drive of BJP from November 1 and ensure that every booth has BJP workers and every college and university should have a stall for membership through e-registration.
