The Madras High Court bench here today sought to know from the government about rganisations which were functioning under the banner "human rights" despite National human rights Commission's notification that the organisations which bears the name Human Rights should remove the same.
Justice N Kirubakaran hearing a petition filed by J Suyambulingam, Secretary of Suyambulingam Primary School in Tirunelveli district, asked the Home Secretary and DGP to submit a report as to how how many organisations were functioning under the name "human rights" organisation and thier activities.
The petitioner submitted that a, Tirunelveli district based organisation was harassing the school managementclaiming that it was a human rights organisation in support of a teacher Arunodhaya Selvi who had been placed under suspension for indiscipline.
As per the direction of the High court the management was willing to pay the salary for the teacher, but she should submit her service register to the school.
The Director of School Education who earlier ordered the school to give her pay after she gave the service register to the school management. The management had filed a case regarding on it and it was pending in the High Court.
The socalled human rights organisation were asking the school management to give the salary to the teacher.
The members of the organisation including G Wilson accompanied by the teacher barged into the school and threatened him, Suyambulingam contended.
They also demanded Rs one lakh for the organisation and threatened the school management to comply with the request of the teacher. They also prevented the school bus from leaving the school on Sept 16 last year.
Though he gave a complaint to Tirunelveli SP and the Inspector of district crime branch, no action had been taken against the organisation. Hence the court should intervene and direct the police to register a case based on their complaint against the organisaztion and take legal action against the organisation, the petitioner said.
