A bench, comprising Justice R.Sudhakar and Justice V M Velumani, directed the state Director General of Police and and the Home Secretary to consider the plea of the petitioner within two months.
Petitioner V.Kasirajan, an advocate and a Public Interest Litigation activist, submitted that police did not follow the rule that FIR copy should be provided within 24 hours to the accused, denying their basic right. The accused also face problem in getting bail.
Hence, the court should issue a direction to the officials of the respective police station to upload the FIR registerd against a person within 24 hours after the registration of the case so that the same could be downloaded.
