The Allahabad High Court today directed Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply on a Public Interest Litigation seeking the removal of senior IAS officer Rajiv Kumar from the post of Principal Secretary (Personnel).
In the PIL, it has been alleged that Kumar was sentenced to three years' rigorous imprisonment by a CBI court which has held him guilty of corruption in allotment of plots while he was the Deputy CEO of Noida.
A division bench, comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice Yashwant Varma, asked the state government to file its counter-affidavit by the next date of hearing on January 15.
The order came on the PIL of India Rejuvenation Initiative (IRI), an anti-corruption organization, with former Punjab DGP J F Ribeiro and 8 others named as petitioners.
