Justice R. Subbaiah, before whom the bail petition filed by Thangavelu DSP of Prohibition Enforcement wing(PEW) who was arrested more than a month ago, came up, granted the relief and directed him to appear before the Investigating Officer before whom the murder case is pending investigation.
The matter relates to the murder of one Chinnappan Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) cadre of Vellore district in Tamil Nadu in May this year.
The investigation showed that the murder was in connection with the smuggling of red sanders.
In the course of investigation, it came to light that Thangavelu was also allegedly involved in the smuggling of red sanders from the house of Chinnappan.
Today Thangavelu submitted before the Court that the investigating team has not recovered any material from the house of DSP to substantiate the crime and hence he be granted bail.
